This is the song of the week because I heard it on Saturday night, when I went out to celebrate my dear friend Pauline’s birthday, and it’s been on the brain since! It’s one of my favorite songs - and I’m not alone. If you don’t recognize the name, once you hear it, you’ll definitely recognize the song. It’s been sampled by everyone and their mom, probably most famously by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock. It’s a pretty old song so couldn’t find live footage from back in the day so I have an audio (so you can hear it for real) and then I’ve got some live footy for you from a few days before Ms. Collins passed away. Remember, “You gotta use what you got, to get what you want.”
I’ve been going through a bit of a Bad Brains phase. I’m loving the crazy combination of punk and reggae and H.R.’s voice! It’s so distinct and once it’s on the brain, I can’t turn it off.

Today, I heard one of my favorite all-time Van Halen songs and it made want to rock out. Check out Eddie and David back in 1982. Eddie is a badass on the guitar - this opening riff is one of the best - eva! Who else can pull off overalls without a shirt? Eddie can.
When I first saw this at the Brooklyn Museum I wanted it sooooo badly but didn’t have the funds at the time. I lucked out and there are just a handful left in the U.S. and Kathleen at Louis Vuitton was amazing and got her hands on one for me! Yay! I love it when hard work pays off.
I finally got home early enough to tune in to the debates and McCain looks like a crazy blinking robot who makes no sense. If you didn’t get a chance to see this debate, or the previous ones, you can view them here. If Barack does not win this election I will leave the country - don’t doubt it, I’m already working on my application for dual-citizenship with Italia.
